I have a bachelor’s degree in Christian counseling and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in May. I am also a licensed minister. I decided to returning to school, after being in the fast food restaurant industry for over 20 years. I have found that in whatever setting I am in; I find that so many people are stuck. Life experiences, environments, and family histories put so many people in a place that they feel they cannot get out of. This literally breaks my heart.

As a minister and a counselor, I have worked with several people whose negative thought patters and beliefs are embedded so deeply that they cannot see past them. This makes getting past or changing them very difficult. After several months, even years, their vocabulary is still so rich with I cant’s, don’ts, will nots, I am nots that little progress is made. When progress does happen, negative thoughts send them back to the beginning of what become a cycle.

It is my desire to be able to help people find new ways of thinking and believing so that they can not only see past their challenges but get past them, for the long term. I believe that using traditional and alternative therapies are necessary for overcoming many of life challenge. I will use hypnosis, NLP and other tools as adjuncts to other counseling strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused. I also know that due to such a strong stigma, there are many people who are stuck that will never seek traditional therapy/counseling, so I want to have an effective means of helping them as well. Hypnosis not only adds value to me as a therapist for those who will sit down in an office with me, but to a population of people who would never go to an office.
